Where text codes work best

  • Gift hunts & treasure trails — each code reveals the next clue.
  • Museum & gallery labels — extra context without a website.
  • Asset & inventory tags — serial numbers and specs on the code itself.
  • Cheat sheets & recipes — short reference text that scans anywhere.

Text QR — FAQ

What is the maximum text length?

Roughly 1,000–2,900 characters depending on the error-correction level. Under ~500 characters keeps the code comfortably easy to scan.

Why did my code get very dense?

More text means more modules. Shorten the text or lower the error-correction level to keep it scanner-friendly. The counter under the editor warns you when you're approaching the limit.

Does scanning need internet?

No. The text is stored inside the QR image itself, so it displays even in airplane mode.

Can it contain a link instead?

Yes — any text works, including URLs. But if the goal is "scan to open a website", the URL QR generator produces a cleaner result.
