Inclusive price — the MRP you see on the tag.
Shows your amount across every slab at once.
CGST + SGST halves apply within a state. For inter-state sales, the same total is charged as IGST — switch the display in Advanced. The math is identical either way.
Everyday examples (18% slab)
- Service bill ₹1,180 inclusive → base ₹1,000, GST ₹180 (CGST ₹90 + SGST ₹90).
- Base price ₹2,500 exclusive → GST ₹450, customer pays ₹2,950.
- Works for any slab — gold (3%), restaurant (5%), most services (18%), luxury (28%).
- Flip on "Compare all slabs" in Advanced to see your amount under every rate at once.
GST Calculator — FAQ
What's the difference between the two modes?
"Add" starts from a pre-tax price and computes the final price. "Remove" starts from a tax-inclusive price (MRP) and finds the pre-tax base. Same rate, opposite directions.
How do I know which slab applies?
That's set by the government per goods/service category — you know it for your own invoices. Common anchors: essentials 5%, standard goods/services 18%, luxury/sin goods 28%, gold 3%.
Why does extraction give a "smaller" GST than 18% of the price?
Because the tax is 18% of the base, not of the inclusive figure. ₹1,180 @ 18% → GST is ₹180 (18% of ₹1,000), not ₹212. Extraction divides by (1 + rate) — that trips everyone at first.
CGST/SGST vs IGST — which applies to me?
Selling within your state → CGST + SGST, each half the rate. Selling across states → IGST at the full rate. The total tax is identical; only the invoice lines differ. Switch the display in Advanced to match your invoice.
